You obviously don't know any scientists because none of them will agree that science has explained everything. They don't expect that science will ever explain everything. They don't want science to explain everything. What would be the fun in that? Most of the fun of being a scientist is discovering something new. Theories only stand until something comes along and disproves them. Once, scientists were convinced the the Earth was the centre of the solar system and the sun went around us.
Science cannot explain why we feel thrilled at the beauty of a rainbow or a sunset. Science cannot explain why 90% of the population of the Earth believe they have a soul/spirit and believes in a deity of some sort.
I am a born again Christian and something of an armchair scientist with a predelection towards theoretical physics .... think Michio Kaku.

Because we are human.Animals have no problem trying to figure out if there is a God because that does not concern them .They, eat mate ,and sleep. Simple programing. But humans on the other hand have been given so much information they tax their brains in every conceible way to try and prove or disprove the existance of a Creator or God
There either is a God or there isn;t.It's no good telling someone there is a God if they don't believe in one.Your only wasting your time .And the same goes for a non believer trying to tell someone who believes in God that there is no God.
So i guess it all boils down to how you live your life. we wont know for sure until after we die. I t will be very interesting to see who was right. If nothing happens and we are not resurrected then the non believers will win.But unfortunately we wont wake up to find out !How ever if we are ressurected those who believed in God while they were alive will be happy but not supprised because of their faith.
The way i see it is like this .You can try to live a good life be kind to others share your wealth and continue to marvel at all the things God created (that is if you believe in him) and you will get a special feeling of love kindness and compassion which is very hard to explain.Where does it come from?
You can also try to lead a good life without the existence of a God/Creator and also be kind and helpful to others but you will not get any graces from God until you get to know him and if and when that happens your whole life will be transformed and a lot of questions will be solved
I am not taking any sides to this answer saying there is a God or there is no God. my owns thoughts are private. I am just trying to answer objectively and i may be wrong.

You statement is based on the a few presumptions. One is that science has "explained everything". Can you demonstrate this as fact? If so, it would be important to tell your interlocutor and if you can, it would probably make headlines around the world. The second presumption is that belief in God is contingent upon certain epistomological and empirical concepts and observations not having been explained. This is known as a "God of the gaps" approach in which it is asserted that God is the answer to those questions we cannot answer or experiences we do not understand. This also represents a reduction in terms of how reasonable folks, both believers and non-believers, have approached the question of God's existence. Finally, the statement presumes that belief in God is contingent upon an explanation or a "proof"-- this is also not the case, as for most who believe in God, the issue is not a "proof", but the experience of or assent to a revelation. Modernity has insisted on a kind of certitude in terms of the question of God's existence that borders on the obsessive-- and this has proved to be an intellectual dead end. Like most questions that are related to ultimacy, ontology, teleology or the meaning of human existence, one does not receive certitude, as much as one discovers wisdom.

Actually SCIENCE has not explained everything. Science has studied many things and given theories on many things, but even the greatest scientists say they aren't sure if God exists. Many who have studied science and the universe and were non-believers, now believe because of their studies! Not all do of course.
I believe when we look around at all the AMAZING BEAUTY in the world and in the universe it is very hard to say there was not a divine creator !!!!!!
Then when we see the horrors of a child with cancer, a baby with spina-bifida, or the horrors of war or man's cruelty to his fellow man -- it is then very hard to believe in God. But are those things God's fault or man's fault, are the illnesses God's fault or an accident of nature or perhaps of bad pre-natal care?
I believe you must close your eyes, relax, and see if you feel God in your heart and mind. You probably will feel that you are not alone -- God perhaps. But if you don't feel anything, who is to say you are wrong?
Keep an open mind and heart and keep on studying this subject. No one I know of can actually tell us if God is real or not. It's a personal thing, a connection -- or not.
May you have a good life and leave the world a better place than you found it. Peace & Love.

Science has not explained everything. There are still a lot of questions as to the accuracy of the Big Bang theory. As to your question of why we still believe in god, the answer is because the existence of god would explain why we exist. If you are not happy with the god model, come up with your own model to explain why we exist. No matter what you choose to believe, your beliefs will be supported by faith, at some level.

God springs forth from the primitive limbic system of your brain, the last remnants of your reptillion past. The area where our raw emotions reside, including the irrational belief systems.
The 'religious' experience is triggered by deep depression, starvation, near death, or other highly charged situations. The 'born-again' christian phenomena has a scientific basis....yes, your limbic system. Why has man evolved this mechanism you might ask? Simple...it was a survival mechanism of our cave man ancestors to cope with a hostile and unknown universe.
The cerebral cortex is a more recent development. Here is where our rational and logical thought processes take place. It is here that the atheists have found their basis in reality.
In reality, there is no sentient, omnipresent, omnipotent supernatural being or force....therefore all the inequities and misery of the world will always persist, no matter how hard some try to get that limbic brain of ours to work...sorry

1. Science has not explained everything
2. Science - does not explain - it discovers (or uncovers)
3. 70% of the scientific community believe in God
what do they know that makes them do that?? - they undersatnd that the randomnes of things is too random - there has to be an intricate design - and a first cause to this design for the Universe & beyond.
we cannot absolutely prove the existence of god - nor can we disprove it - science cannot ultimately prove or disprove either - especially in view of the shifts in paradigms in the last few years

Science does not prove or disprove anything. It is simply a set of rules for examining a subject, measuring and observing, and drawing conclusions based on these measurements.
These conclusions can later be changed when different measurements or observations are considered.
Newton’s law of motion was not ‘disproved’ by Einstein’s special theory of relativity; it simply theorised a process that had been observed which was not explainable by Newton’s law.
Religion is a belief of something that can never be proven. Yes there are zealots who spend their life declaring that god is provable, but they do not believe in a religion, they are wedded to dogma. If god were provable then religion would be pointless.
The whole ethos of a healthy religion is that it is a belief. Science cannot prove or disprove a belief, because it only observes and measures, there is nothing to observe or measure in belief.

Hi !!!
I don't think that Science has explain everything. And I don't think they are going to be able to. They are still trying to explain themselves!!!
Regardless of, if Science explains it or not, still we most believe in GOD because, GOD was the one that created the Science, in Science!!!!!
Usually scientist end up with more questions than answers ,
But GOD has all the answers to all our questions and all the answers to other questions we can't possibly ask, for not being able to find an explanation to the things that we don't even know yet!!
And that is the Science behind, this answer!!!!
GOD BLESS YOU & HAPPY LIFE,
WITHOUT EXPLANATIONS !!!!

Perhaps it is because we ca not readily define God . I always think of ''It'' as a old man with a grey beard . I cannot think along Physics levels . God whatever will always remain an enigma. We haven't the capacity to envelop the whole of the philosophy , first cause etc. he Moral universe? that's easy to answer God doesn't cause Pain mankind does it to each other . And greed is just an insecurity that I must have it all because when i die I will have nothing .
But we are nothing we just fill our Tough ts up with Maya . Illusion
