Gas is refined oil. The more its refined the higher quality and higher the octane is. Sort of like booze top shelf and bottom shelf. Some cars have a higher compression so they need higher octane fuel. Your owners manual can tell you the right gas for the car. Many cars also tell you on the gas cap, on the dash and on the inside cover of the fuel door. If you car is ment to run on regular (87) octane then by using super is a waste of $$. Some cars like a nissan maxima, for example, are made to run better on premuim or super fuel.. 91 and better octane. if you run them on 87 the performance drops, sometimes the check engine light will go on and some times it will "ping" going up hills. Just like oil its best to use what is recommended for the car. No more no less.

Regular has a lower octane and is meant for most cars. If your car has been pinging some, or you plan to pull a boat up a hill for some skiing, the put super in to help your engine.
Super has a higher octane. This is needed in high compression engines, some sport cars, and muscle cars. Without the high octane, the engine will constantly "ping". Most people think it's justa noise, but really it is small explosions causing damage to the critical parts in the engine.
Diesel is a whole other kind of fuel altogether.

I would say about 30 cents a gallon.
Seriously, the super has a higher octane rating, so it is less likely to have your engine knock. You use it for higher compression cars that require it. If your car recommends using regular then don't use the higher priced gas, your car doesn't need it. and you are wasting money.

Diesel fuel is NOT gasoline, only use it in diesel cars.
Regular and super are grades of gasoline. Most cars use gasoline.
Most cars it makes no difference, regular or super. Super is a total waste of money.
Some cars will automatically adjust, and can get more power out of super. (and more fuel economy.)
A few cars need super. Mainly sportscars.
Check your owner's manual.

Heck,when I get super gas,it's because I had beer and taco bell.Regular is just...stinky.
OOOOOOHHHHH!!!!!! Sorry...
Err,Most new cars are designed to run on regular, unless otherwise noted in the owner's manual or on the gas door. Most high end cars are designed to run with higher octane.Diesel is still just fuel with three grades of purity and cetane, last I knew.

Regular goes prrrrt and everyone runs.... Super goes rrrip and everyone starts losing consciousness.
No really, it's the amount of octane in the gas.
