Why do you think we haven't admitted anymore states into the United States. There are many candiates for the position of 51st state, however none have admitted. What do you think is the hold-up on statehood for DC, Puerto Rico, or the other territories and possessions of the United States. What territory do you think has the highest chances of being admitted first.
As a Second Question, what are the current laws or protocols that would govern the admittance of a new state.

Puerto Rico is not a Country. It is a Territory of the United States; much like the USVI and Guam.

User HDZ sent me an answer that had nothing to do with the question but basically added information concerning the Nationality of Puerto Rico. To that claim will add that i read the link for the UN, which does not point out Puerto Rico as a country. Also it needs to be added that just because a territory is in the UN, does not make it a nation nor not being in the UN does it not make a territory a nation.
Also, it is included they have their own olympic team. Korea has a joint team, but this doesn't mean there is one Korea.
And lastly it is given that they have National Anthem--which also means peanuts.
Finally I saw that you said that puerto rico has it's own constitution. ..this also does not point out it as a seperate nation from the united states--as a consittution only is the framework of the government. Unless there is a declaration of succession from as territory from the united states--I would not call Puerto Rico a Country.
