or, do they really mean, "Grant me my wishes".

I don't speak to God in the "Queens English". I tend to talk to God like I would talk to anyone else. LOL. To answer your question, I really want my prayers answers my way, but I am well aware of the plan and understand it may mean I get my answer, do not get my answer, or have to wait for my answer.

If there is a God He really knows what the plan is and knows what is best for me (that's why HE'S God.) When I say "Thy will be done" I truly, honest to God mean it personally because I am old enough that I am willing to give up ANYTHING that will take me to the place that I am supposed to be. It has taken me a LONG time to get to this place however. You have to get old enough to have gotten enough of the stuff that you thought was REALLY RIGHT for you and found out how WRONG you were before you can "Let go and let God."

When I say "Thy Will be done" that is what I truly mean. For one it does not matter what I want or wish for because when it is said and done God is going to do what is best for me.

I think it takes maturity in your walk with God to fully understand, "Thy will be done". If you are young in your walk then you may say it, pray it or believe it but until you fully comprehend it you will not like your answers. That is why we plead for our wants over and over again. We do not like God's answer, His will.

We as humans are sinful by nature and tend to want our wishes, dreams, needs, wants or whatever cured by God. We have to realize it is to be lifted up to Him and follow along the path he has set before us. If we stray from the path and try to do things "our" way then the trouble can begin and will cause us to struggle.

Just look upon Jesus and put your trust in the Lord. All will be done according to His word.

Good question...unfortunately, a few people confuse God with Aladdin's genie. I think they mean "Thy Will be done...as long as it agrees with mine."

I can only speak for myself when I say that I believe it.. to me it means I am trusting God that he will answer my prayer(s) at his will , because he knows and wants what is best for me.

I'm one person who does mean it.
Although, I always hope my wishes is what will be done,
But, I know all in all......thy will be done.

I truly mean it, and I say it every day.
It's all in His hands, and I have to surrender to that.
I also like the saying, "be grateful that you don't get everything you DESERVE!"
