A half-life is the time it takes for half the parent radioactive element to decay to a daughter product. Radioactive carbon-14 is present in the atmosphere and all living things, which absorb it. Upon death a plant or animal no longer absorbs carbon 14 and its amount starts to decrease through radioactive decay so that after 5730 years there is only half the amount of carbon 14 that would be expected in a living plant or animal.

1. Use the info to conjecture a model for the number of carbon-14 atoms that have not decayed from an initial number.

could someone please help me with this, i really have no idea how to do it

where N = Number of years
and I = Initial Amount
and y = Amount Remaining

I don't know the amount of math you have had. Half-life is really not a useful concept for mathematicans, but only good for math-deficient chemists who persist in continuing to inflict their stupidity on future generations. The math model is I(t) = I(t=0) exp(-kd t)
I(t) is the number of atom at time t after t=0, kd is the decay constant in time-1 units and t is the time.
You can solve for kd, since at the half-life
0.5 = exp (-kd x half life) . Solving
0.693/half life = kd

This jogs my memory of a query posed to me in business enterprise. a guy walks into his apartment, opens his refrigerator, and discovers that his roommate had swiped 2 of his beers in spite of if had replaced them with a extra fee-smart form of beer. How plenty beer displacement became there since the unique beer was Samuel Adams and the alternative beer became Budweiser? answer: 24 oz..of robust beer became replaced by utilising 24 oz..of watery crap and, all advised, the roommate who swiped the beer became as quickly as kicked out of the home, had no undertaking to income, lost his scholarship, dropped out of school, and at last went to artwork for Budweiser as a forklift operator. the respond on your question is B.
