I'm a Scout Troop Leader (when I'm not a bartender. Talk about lives clashing eh?) Most of the kids I work with are between the ages of 10-13. Almost all of them have had 'special friends' of the opposite sex. I've even caught two of them in a tent one camp. It's disturbing to say the least about what kids are doing these days. I wish it was like when I was a kid growing up in the 60's and 70's.
Stay strong. Make sure your daughters have standards and make guys earn you know what. The last thing you want is for your kids to end up like people like us.

No, It is not you! my daughter has went out all ready with a guy to the movies and she is 15. But the guy is super sweet I could not say no. 12 is way to young to have a boyfriend or even to be thinking about one it makes me queasy as well.

My daughter will be 12 this summer. No way in hell will she be dating anytime soon. I think kids that are too young to drive dating is dumb as hell. I had to wait until I was 15 and that was a few months before I turned 16 and after a TON of begging.

Kids are dating younger but the most dis concerning fact is that they are having sex younger too and that is alarming. I think your family is not strange at all and it's a good thing that some of us have strong values that they stand by.

You make the rules for your family. Crushes happen regardless of rules. But official dating begins when you say it does.
Chaperoned "Group" Dating was allowed in my community as a kid starting at age 13 or 14.

I don't think that makes you strange at all. Not only are kids dating younger, girls are dressing more provocatively at a younger age as well. I can't understand why parents let their daughters leave the house dressed the way they are. It makes me shake my head in disbelief.

Yes, Years ago many parents thought their daughters shouldn't date until they were 16, Now they are glad to see their daughter has a boyfriend, because it shows she is not gay.

Yup. These days kids are dating at younger age. It's an effect of modernization and globalization.

i had my first bf at the age of 21, not that i am not attractive but it is my own choice.
but some of my nieces dates as early as 12 and i often tell them off but, i also accepted the fact that this is already the second century, time changed so is the society
