NO. Now let’s come to legal aspect of your case. Any foreigner who wants to marry an India can do so under the Special Marriage Act, 1954 only. According to this enactment the marriage is preformed before the marriage officer/registrar. There are some conditions that has to be fulfilled before this marriage can be preformed, these conditions are age of wife should be at least 18 years & age of husband should be 21 years, both should be UNMARRIED or DIVORCEE or WIDOW/WIDOWER as the case may be, they should not be related to each other by degree of prohibition, they both should be of sound mind & not suffering from any mental disorder. Before such a marriage is preformed a notice for such marriage is given to the marriage officer who will not only get a copy of this notice affixed on the notice board of his office BUT will send a copy to the district/ city/state/country where the other party (here the foreigner) stays for verification of the fact that non of the conditions necessary for such marriage are not being infringed, only after receiving the report from the marriage officer/ D.C/ local official of the foreigner that no such condition is being infringed he will get both married & issue a certificate to this respect. This whole takes a period of one month. If the foreigner is found to be lying on oath as she has to give an affidavit regarding her status as mentioned above, the marriage officer will definitely take legal action against the person & will file a criminal complaint for perjury for which the person can face imprisonment & fine. This the correct legal position which I have given you but if some one is misleading such a person then I am sorry she/he is inviting trouble for him/her. Write to me directly for any clarification.

Uh, sure you can get married anywhere, at anytime, but it's not legal. Pretty much all marriages performed to join a man and a woman are considered valid everywhere in the world. Therefore, if they get married to another person in another country without first getting a valid divorce or annulment, they will be committing bigomy. Even if all parties are agreed that a second marriage is ok, such as with religions that take more wives, it still is not legal in most of the world. The first wife, or husband, is the one with all the rights. Besides, India may believe in bigamy, however it's for the men to have as many wives as possible, not the other way around.

They may not realize what she is doing until after she gets married in india. I would aski the police where you are what can be done. You can even try asking is as a hypothetical question at first. But you do need to do something for everyone's sake.

No, she can't get married, but it is for u to expose her. U can try to contact the police authorities/ magistrate of the city or town where she proposes to get married. U can try to contract her proposed husband's family and relatives. In india still virginity and single marriage is appreciated. U must act fast and try to frustrate her moves by exposing her. More than the legal machinery, the moral values are quite high in India, but she should be exposed as early as possible.

oh it is all good sweetie. i am legally married over here in the states and i also have four husbands in quezbecastan. it is perfectly legal as long as the nuber of illegal marriages cancel out the number of legal marriages multiplied by two. so i am double safe, i have 4 illegal husbands in that place i just said, so divide that by two and you have two...... so....... i could actually get married again in the states with one more person, you see?? so tell your friend i said if she wants another marriage that is completely up to her, and good luck to her.
