I think it is.
If we leave and it gets better....they can say "See, we were right. Vote democrat!"
If we leave and it gets worse (and it will)....they can say "See what Bush and the republicans did? Vote democrat!"
That's why they're so eager for us to leave. Either way, it's a win for the dems.
You think people aren't thinking that way? Think again.

Priority: We're nowhere close to bankrupting the country and our servicemen and women are volunteers who knew exactly what was expected of them when they joined up....I'm a veteran.
My solution: Stay there until the job is done...just like Germany...just like Japan...just like South Korea.

I wouldn't say that is a no lose for the Dem's (there are many possibilities that could arise such as a terrorist group taking over Iraq in the chaos which would make the Dem's not only look like idiots but also weak on homeland security, something they sorely need to work on to maintain there advantages in Congress) Saying that however, i believe there are 3 reasons why the Dem's are so eager to leave. 1. If the situation works out according to plan there will be an enormous swing in popularity for their party. 2. There are many of them who actually do believe that it is the right thing to do and they will be saving many lives in the process . 3. This is the most important point: This has been a major platform issue for many of the Dem's, and to not at least try to pull the troops out of Iraq would reflect very badly on their ability to get things done in Congress (especially since they control both houses). The houses have been Republican so long now that since the Dem's have control of them, they are trying to stay united and get things done for fear of losing them back to the Republicans and the Iraq pullout is a major part of that

Why are you for keeping our troops in harms way? Why do you want to keep troops in the middle of a Civil War?
Tell you what, why don't YOU TELL ME HOW YOU WOULD SOLVE THIS PROBLEM without bankrupting this country and having our soldiers in harms way...
EDIT: Bush has placed us back into debt. The amount of money bush wanted (and I spelled his name in small letters on purpose) at the beginning of this lie of a war was MUCH LESS than he actually used, and now he wants more. That's bankrupting our country.
Now, you state we should stay until the job is done. What job? Getting rid of terrorists? That won't happen, and by staying there, we actually make more. Is it for Democracy? How is it democracy if WE OCCUPY THE COUNTRY?

The no lose situation would apply to our troops still living. They would come marching home and take their places in society they left to fight that sorry war. There would be no more coffins or body bags arriving home with the remains of some ones loved ones in them. Certainly it would be a no-lose situation.

And if you don't think the "surge" isn't designed to calm down things in and around Baghdad long enough for Bush to proclaim victory and then get the hell out of Dodge, you've got another thing coming.

I think that the Democrats will lose because the ratio of democrats and repbulicans are too close in the Congress. We need to stay in this war to help the Iraquis and to protect our nation too

that is very intersting line of thought. well no matter what happens the media will spin that the democrats were right. the only thing that could be directly linked back if attacks would happen on our soil. it is a very big risk. for a politacal statement.
