I really want a laptop. I have 400 dollars, and i want to set a goal for myself of about 700-900 dollars to buy one with. I will use it for gaming, music, and internet exploring. What would be the best laptop with all these capabilites. Please let me know how much it costs, where I can buy it, and why it fits my cause perfectly.

Thanks!

For 700-900 bucks, you can buy a good laptop. If you want to use it for gaming and music, I recommend you check out the Inspiron Notebooks by Dell (located at this link: http://www.dell.com/content/products/category.aspx/inspn?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs .) If you need better performance on your laptop than those have, check out the XPS laptops (and desktops) that Dell offers, but these are more expensive.
Finally, the best gaming and music (entertainment) laptops of all those are descriped at this link: http://www.dell.com/content/products/results.aspx/notebooks?~ck=anav&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&a=6422~0~28027&navla=6422~0~28027 . With 900 bucks, you can buy the first one, which is called the Inspiron E1705. That one would surely fill your needs.

Hope I helped,

Since you are considering a serious investment, take time to review and canvass expert comments and pricing for all laptops available in the market within your budget.

Also pay particular attention to User Reviews. PC World and ZDNet offer great insights.

In the end, it is your intended usage, what OS you intend to use (Windows, Macintosh, Linux, for example) and capacity to maintain your system in good working order over time, that will help you decide. Remember that laptops are relatively costlier to maintain than desktops. Factor in maintenance and upkeep costs together with acquisition price.

You can buy a barebone laptop and build it. Its flexible because it can allow you to customize it the way you want so it can fit you budget wise and performance wise. You can find these barebones from online stores. The best brand I think for barebones is ASUS. After you bought your barebone you need to buy a CPU that fits your needs but make sure that it is Mobile. Then you need to buy some ram that fits your need. Most barebones comes with Graphic cards so you don't have to buy them. Look for barebones that have good ones like ones from ATI and Nvidia.

Most people dont need a lot of power, so your budget would be fine.
However when you say gaming, you need speed plus a graphics card from ATI etc. You have doubled the price.

Most of the big names are good, Dell, HP etc.
