The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion--one of my favorite authors--and it was great. I usually check them out from the library, but if I can't live without them, I buy them to keep.

I usually end up reading my books at home, and my magazines at the library (except for the one or two that I do buy).
The last book I read, was a collection of stories from Robert Louis Stevenson, basically his scary/surreal stories collected along with _The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde_. It was on the clearance rack for three bucks, and worth the money for the main story alone. I liked most of it, though the short story "Thrawn Janet" was a bit much, as it was written entirely in old-school (think early 1800s) Scots dialect. *That* took a few reads to get used to. o_o
I am currently working on, on and off, the James Patterson book, _Maximum RIde_. It's off more than on mainly because the super-short (think five pages and less) chapters are annoying. Which is a shame, as I like the characters and the story being told, but I *don't* like being yanked out of it by a chapter break every few pages....I think I'd like this book better (at least read it more often) if were adapted into being a comic book, since the frequent breaks suggest to me that *that* is how the author wrote the thing originally (each chapter being a comic book page, each written-out page being a panel).
But yeah, I'll tell you if _Maximum Ride_ is good or not when I get closer to being done with it. Sorry.
Hope this helps...thanks for your time! ^_^

It can go either way. If I have a lot of money to spare, I buy the books; otherwise I'll check them out of the library. The last book that I read was "A Spot of Bother" by Mark Haddon - an excellent read, in my opinion.

The book's title was "One Deadly Night". The author is John Glatt. It is about a state trooper here in Indiana who was found guilty of murdering his wife, his 7 year old son and his 5 year old daughter. It is a true story. The murder happened on 28 September 2000.
I read non-fiction books and mostly prefer True Crime. Ann Rule is my favorite author of True Crime books.
I purchase my books and keep them in bookshelves here at home as I love everything about books...the feel, the smell, etc. I also like to read some of them over if they were really good.

I actually real an amazingly high percentage of stuff on the computer, these days. If it comes to it, I'll go to the book store. I hate library books, God knows who's had their hands on them before me.

I read a book of short stories, I can't remember what it was called about a week ago.
I like to buy books, but the library is good too, especially when money is tight...
