I would say Dells are the best prebuilt systems, but I prefer making my own.

eMachines, I treat like McDonalds....only if there is no other choice, or if I'm desperate. I had a client w/ one a few months ago....Crappy, in my opinon.

The best, or worst computer is what YOU, the buyer and user think of it. I know this will vary, but I wanna see who can sway my opinion one way or the other.

Macs work the best, run the best, and look the best. They also run windows. A mac pro can be built for gamers, and an I mac is great for home use. For someone new to mac a mac mini is cheap and great for music, movies, internet whatever. Mac are ready to go out of the box, but for advanced people you can do a lot of changes. They are a great choice for anyone.

For casuals users, prebuilts are best.

For enthusiasts who want the best looking or best gaming or best benchmarking, etc. PC, custombuilt is the best. You can choose the best aluminum case you want, the best mobo/processor (or best overclocking mobo/processor) the best performing as well as best looking HSF, the best and speediest RAM sticks, the latest DX10 vidcard and so on. And you can put all the "bling-blings" you like as long as you have a beefy PSU.

You can always keep up to date through upgrades without junking the entire system. In many cases, this is difficult with branded pre-built systems.

I wouldn't buy another prebuilt .I just don't like the propriatary bios and the manufactuers bloated verion of windows The word "CUSTOM" Shouldn't imediatly bring to mind $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ I have built Custom rigs for Prices that are in the same price range as the HPs and The Gateway/Emachine crapware That are way better units

Best Computer - Desktop - Gateway tower - don't know the model number but I got it at best buy for $630 with a blazing fast processor, and 2GB RAM, 7200 RPM drive... it's running as my server now, and I tell some of my smaller clients to buy it and just wipe the os an put server on, cause 8 months later not turning it off it still flies.

Worst - Sony Laptops

Run so hot that you can't have them on your lap.

I haven't used a pre-built computer in years, but Alienware has some great options IMO. Dell does't look too bad either. Worst? Probably e-Machines, I've had several bad experiences with them.

The best way to go is to build your own, especially if you know what you're doing and future-proof it rather well.

go with a emachine don't listen to ridiculous and false accusations of computers if you know how to put a computer together then I'm sure can can distinguish a shitty one from a good (read the specs). I have a emashine its cheap *** hell with crazy just amazing parts. i can take a wild guess but your not going to need to a computer that can convert a vob. and play music and and upload file over the network and be playing CS all at the same time

Custom builts are the best, no OEM can make one like it ;) We have lots of room for upgrade change and choice of software in a custom built...
But ya, Dell makes many good ones :) Especially the Alienware :D

There is nothing such as a best or worst computer.
It all depends on the person using it.
If the person is good a penium -IIIis good enough, else the next generation too would never be good enough

DELL? Oh my God! Dell is the most crappiest systems ever made. They will always crash GUARANTEED! Never buy dell. If you want to waste your money, chuck it out of the window - at least someone will benifit from it.
