Why would they change?

They don't SEEM to change because of what limited knowledge we have. I'm a regular reader of Scientific American and I think it was in an issue last summer (2006) that there are some indications that what we thought are fundemental laws of physics DO change, such as the speed of light. Frankly, when you consider that light can be bent by gravity and that time and space are intertwined, I'm not surprised by these new findings. And for the most part, I agree with others here that the laws also do not seem to change because of the perspective of the observer.

That's a great question to which I doubt if anyone has a definite answer... STAR question.

Here is my version... one of the possible answers.... can't be sure though!!....

Because these fundamental laws were born along with the birth of time..... and would change or perish only when time ends and timelessness comes into being. Perhaps these few seemingly unchangeable Universal Laws are there to ensure that time moves on in a systematic manner so that a time comes for 'time' to die and 'timelessness' to come to be.

Well the laws do SEEM to change. For instance no-one would have believed man could build machines that could fly in years gone by.and if you were to explain mobile phones, satellite tracking.atoms etc before knowledge of these things was known such ideas would have been regarded as fanciful and against the laws of physics .
Obviously everything that we do is constrained by those very laws and they will never change but as scientists unravel more and more of the fabric of our existence so our knowledge of those laws will become greater and therefore SEEM to change.

As a Christian I believe that God created the universe. Because God is bound by eternal and everlasting laws, his state of being is unchanging. His existence is reflected in his works, they are unchanging and constant and the same throughout the ages of the world. God was, God is, and God will forever be the same, so will the laws of the universe because they were created by Him.

It's too big for us to grasp.

At the beginning of time, when everything was smashed into one speck of nothing, the laws that we know DIDN'T apply. It wasn't until everything exploded and spread out that physics came into being.

If we're big enough (like a galaxy), or live long enough (like a few million years) then the laws DO seem to change.

Why would the laws of the universe change?

Our ever increasing understanding of the universe changes constantly, it doesn't.

Easy to figure out, I hope.

the laws of the universe change along with perception and one's state of awareness. Not everyone can perform miracles after all. At least, at whatever state they're in right now they can't.
The question should be instead: why is it so difficult to change perception?

God is perfect .If the laws of the universe change this means that God has made a mistake and is correcting it.

thou in man's belief Universe is uncertain in it's ambiguity."God isn't subtle, He is a stereotype proof.
The physical laws of its constitution is mans-mare.
Man does change, and do universe?when time covers the space it remains blind as if He hasn't seen nothing!
