she makes horrible faces at it, and doesn't seem to want to eat it unless she's really hungry sometimes

If the pros out-weigh the cons, I don't see why you would feel bad about it. My son was on Nutramagin 16 years ago, for severe colic ... and let me tell you, it was like Jekyll and Hyde. After he went on Nutramagin, his little tummy settled right down and he was finally able to get some sleep.

Your right, it does taste horrible ... quite bitter actually, but, if your little one is drinking it without much complaining or spiting it out, she probably doesn't mind it as much as you think she does.

In regards to cost, some health insurance companies will pay for the total amount of the formula or at least a percentage of the cost ... since the milk is considered a necessity. It's worth while looking into, if your little one will be on the formula for a while yet. Hope everything works out for you ... :)

My daughter was put on Nutrimagen because of a milk protein allergy. She drank it great, around 28 ounces a day, and that is really good for a 2 month old! Unfortunatly, her stools were still showing presence of blood even though you couldn't see it. She is 4 months old now and is on Neocate. Talk about expensive. You can't buy it a store, a company must UPS it to you and cost about 40-50 dollars a can depending upon the company you buy it from. Most insurance doesn't pay for it either. She only eats around 24-25 ounces of the stuff a day but her tests are coming up negetive for blood so it is working. It does taste bad though...

Well I was told to give it to my daughter but I couldn't handle the horrible smell. If it smells that bad then it must taste just as bad if not more since you really taste more with your nose than with your mouth. Anyway, I just gave my daughter Isomil Advance. She did really well. If your daughter is having problems keeping her milk down then you should talk to her doctor about possibly putting a bit of rice cereal in her bottle. That's what mine told me to do and it worked great. It also helped her sleep through the entire night! Good luck!

it did wonders for my little one as well. I will say that if you have insurance if you get a not from the dr saying the formula is a medical necessity then they may cover it. Mine did and boy was it a relief. It is very expensive. Hope your insurance covers it!!!

my baby had a colic starting when she's 1 month old, lasted till she turned 3 months..Nutramigen did not help, it made her colic worse and more spit ups..it's expensive, kind of frustrating..we tried parent's choice soy formula (walmart brand) worked wonders for her..no more colic after that..maybe you could try it..but if it really helped her a lot, maybe it's worth it..
