G.I. Joe was by far my favorite . It was essentially a soap opera , possibly the only cartoon done in serial form . It had a plentiful amount of entertaining characters .
A few others : Smurfs ( as you mentioned ) , Gummi Bears , Chip and Dales Rescue Rangers , Snorks , any Hannah Barberra ( remember USA Networks Cartoon Express ? ) , and Transformers .

good question! my daily cartoon regiment consisted of "The Mysterious Cities of Gold" which was on satellite, and i just recently found on youtube. it is a very good anime series about 3 kids and the search for the cities of gold. then it was followed up with Transformers, He-Man, and Voltron!
