I know oil goes for about 75 dollars for a barrel which sucks. How much will Ethanol cost per barrel. Will cars that use ethanol as fuel be more expensive than regular gas cars? WIll people have to buy all new cars to handle the ethanol fuel?

Ethanol fuel is a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline.

Most of the cars sold in the last few years are have dual fuel engines that can run on either E-85 Ethanol or Gasoline.
Most major cities have a few E-85 filling stations available.

E-85 Ethanol presently costs about the same as gasoline by the time you get it to the pump, but that is only because the government subsidises the producers to the tune of $0.50 per gallon. Otherwise it would cost even more. This is the same as the government programs that pay farmers for not planting certain crops.

Also, E-85 fuel has about 27% less energy than gasoline, so when you use it, and if you were getting 400 miles to each tank of gasoline, you will only get 300 miles on a tank of E-85.

Now that really sucks!!!

Also, since everyone is jumping on the E-85 bandwagon the price of corn world wide is increasing.
