I have a very long period (usually lasts about 9 days and is rather heavy).. i am considering taking yasmin and i have a few questions...

what are the side effects?

Is it true you actually lose weight on this one... i really dont want to gain weight?

how soon will you see results when it comes to the length of your period?

and lastly.. how is it acne wise.. does it keep your skin clear?

ive been on yasmin for a little over a year and i looooove it. my periods were realllly bad, i was getting physically sick everytime i had it.. for side effects : when i first starting taking it ( first cycle until about the the 3rd) i would have some vaginal bleeding during sex.. but that went away. i dont get headaches or nausea like other pills gave me. my periods are really light and the cramps are veryyyy manageable, usually only the first day is tough, but its nothing that a little midol cant handle. i didnt gain any weight, or lose any for that matter.. im not sure where you heard you lose weight, but i dont think its true. i noticed a difference in my period after my first pack. i was shocked. it takes time to get it normal, but i def. noticed a difference right away. and acne wise, i never really had any issue with acne, but i used to get a few zits right before my period and i dont anymore. sooo possibly that could be why. but gooood luck with your choice, but im sure youll love yasmin :)

The side effects are possible breakthrough bleeding during the first 3 months (this is with all birth control). I personally never had any breakthrough bleeding though. There are also other things such as headaches, nausea and other minor things that are supposed to go away after the first 3 months. I never experienced any side effects thankfully.

I never lost weight or gained weight, I'm sure it depends on the person though.

I saw results the first month with regards to the heaviness, but not the length. Mine still lasts about 5 days, but it is DEFINITELY alot lighter than it used to be. But for some women it can actually make their period heavier. Once again it just depends on the person.

I usually have pretty clear skin, so I can't help out much with the acne question.

I'm very happy with Yasmin and I definitely recommend giving it a try! Hope all this helps!

Been on Yasmin for about 6 months. Before i was on triquiller and i was bleeding between periods and generally felt like ****. I also had severe dermititis on my upper arms that was cause by being on the pill. Being on Yasmin is great! My skin cpndition is (slowly but surely) curing and i dont feel bloated, or sick. I lost my sex drive before as well. Yasmin doesnt seem to affect it at all. And the best thing is that it reduces my period from a painful 5 days to a more comfortable and sociable three days. It took about 3 months for my periods to reduce, but for you it may be different. I have felt like it is easier to lose wight when on yasmin than any other pill, i dont think it makes you put any weight on. With acne, i wouldn't know. I had severe acne as a teenager and i took a herbal remedy that cleared it right up. I never had a problem with acne when i have been on either pill. The occasional zit when i over indulge, but it probably can help since it normalises your period and whatnot. As for side effects....... none that i can think of just yet.

I took Yasmin for 6 months in 2006 and I had a very rough start with it. One of the side effects I got from it was that I started to cry for no particular reason. This went on for 3 days but then cleared up.

Some women (myself included) have lost weight on Yasmin. I lost nearly 10 lbs on it.

As for the issue of acne I've heard from some others that it has been helpful for that. I found that taking a multi-vitamin (prenatal to be exact and I've never been pregnant before and yes I checked with my dr to make sure it was safe for me to do) was also a big help to my skin when it came to the acne issue.
