For example I make a move and when my opponent logs on he then makes a move. Then I might log on the next day and make a move etc.

Try www.letsplaychess.net. You can play for free, but to fully use the site, you need to pay dues. Believe me, it is well worth it.

Yes! I just started playing at http://www.chessos.com. It works exactly they way you described. You get an e-mail everytime your opponent moves and then you can log on and make a move. The site is free and you can also play Fischer Random chess on it which is cool.

letsplaychess is good...

so is www.redhotpawn.com. Both are turn based, and you and your opponent need not be on the computer at the same time.

I live in Florida, and I've played lots of games with people in Great Britain on that site, and it works fine even though we're several time zones apart.

Hi,

what you are describing is online correspondence chess. www.gameknot.com is an excellent place for this.

There are other websites that offer similar services, but gameknot is the most popular.
