I am on Loestrin 24 fe and i have not had cramps. Also, my period only lasts 2 days.

im not completely sure on the planned parenthood - i do believe that you are required to come in for a pap smear every three months in order to get renewals on your birth control.

Because you have such horrific cramps going on right now I would recommend that you see your dr to try to find the cause of this before deciding to try going on the pill. The dr can help you figure out if this is a safe option for you.

In the mean time the suggestion about the iron intake as suggested by one of the other posters is a good one. I started doing this in recent months by eating things such as spinach, raisins, and peanut butter (for those not allergic to peanuts of course) and I found it helped not only to ease the amount of my flow but also eased the cramping I got.

birth control pills have other effects to. you will gain weight, try eating more iron, my wife gets bad cramps, and found she had a iron defficiancy, and try vitamins B C D. multivitamins and iron tablets should sort you out! better then pumping chemicals in!

i think its different for everyone, but loestrin really helped with my cramps.
i don't think you can get birth control for free, but most planned parenthood clinics offer it on a sliding scale.
