Blocking is your placement/movement in the scene. "Cross to Stage Left" stuff like that :)

Blocking is the creation of the patterns of movement that the actors are to learn during rehearsal, and replicate with some specificity during performances.

Some directors like to dole out blocking randomly during early rehearsals, while others like to give actors the freedom to discover it in a more organic fashion. Both methods can be effective, so long as there is a free exchance of ideas going back and forth between performers and director.

Interesting enough, blocking is called blocking because its initial purpose was to work out placement and movement so actors would not block each other from the audience's view.

"Blocking" is a stage term used when the position of people and scenery in scenes are being placed. For instance, a director could tell you to stand at the couch stage right, and then cross to stage left on a certain line.

It's usually very tedious, but completely necessary for any show.

blocking is your movement and placement on the stage at every given point. it helps support the actors by not taking away from who's talking, and it assists in giving the limelight to those who need it.
