The PC has done wonders for me. I have talked to people in Sitzerland, Canada, California, China, England, Germany and many other places. I have been enriched by the various cultures, beliefs, ideas, simple ways of life, complex issues and conversations which have been engrossing. I have researched many questions, learned about a variety of subjects and even found a way to express myself which I didn't have before. The internet is amazing! Sure ... there are some downs to it as well, but for me it has only soared me upwards and beyond. I'm not lazy by using the computer, although I can see how some people can become lathargic. I limit my time so it doesn't interfer with my everyday events.
Here on Yahoo Answers I have met some interesting people and I have been part of a vast and rich quality of questions. As well as some fun ones that have made my day. To me, the internet has been a huge influence on American culture. There are very few people I know who do not have a computer. Even those not on the net have told me about how much the computer has helped them with many many things.
My PC and I are friends. 8~) We take a stroll through parks, walk beside each other on beaches, explore the planets and the universe, play games, find people we knew long ago, learn how to use the stock market, get help with do-it-yourself projects, help strangers to understand what it's like to live where I live and find out what it's like to live where they live, and the list goes on and on.
Sure ... we can get in a rut of doing the same things but that rut turns into a long and winding road that leads me to places I never thought possible. There has definately been an impact on my life by my PC. AND I must say, for the most part, it has been a possitive and productive impact.

Do you have any idea how may of people are employed just showing other poeple how to use their computers?
My job is video editing which I wouldn't do without a computer (mac in that case).
Maybe the second biggest impact is on my vacation planning. Everything from scouting destinations, to planning routes, to booking rooms, checking local weather where I'm going, and paying off the credit card when I get back. Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention downloading pics from my camera when the mem card gets full and transferring data to and from my GPS when I go out in the woods on my ATV.
In my spare time, I'm developing a windows program that will fill a need at work.
I think I even have game installed on this thing somewhere. Doesn't matter though. I haven't played it in months.

Thirty years ago I began building micro computers in my garage. I learned how build them and program them. That enabled me to get job as a computer software programmer and I been designing computer software programs for all of that time. So I guess that it made my life period.

I could not live without my pc or the internet. Both have given me the world at my finger tips. It has taught me so much and enterttained me for countless hours. It has provided jobs for millions and probably in our lifetime the single most important invention.
