Do you think the Government is secretly planning for the Disaster Predicted in 2012?

NASA seems to have a big interest in acquiring top-notch space travel equipment by the year 2012. They are offering hundreds of millions of dollars to companies who can design and build high tech space travel vehicles. Why is the year 2012 so important to NASA and the Government?

If they did know of a Global Calamity to the World would they tell the Public or hide it?

Though your date does not coincide precisely with the information I accidently came across not too long ago, it's close enough to confirm we're probably referring to the same "event" that's about to take place in just a few short years.
I will respect and not inquire about your source for your information as I expect you will do the same regarding mine.

As you point out, and as others around the world are successfully beginning to put the pieces of these particular NASA projects together and coming up with inexplicable as well as puzzling conclusions, there appears to be certain NASA projects culminating around the time of our dates leaving not much for the imagination or human logic to figure out regarding just what is going on behind the secretive walls of certain government agencies.

What NASA refers to as a "solar storm" around that time in order to deflect suspicious public investigations, belies the real truth and extent of the calamity which is about to occur at that time.

In an earlier question I had posted the following to the normally rhetorical question: "How will the world end?"
My answer will remain unchanged from the one I posted to that question in order to answer your question which connects via a common thread between the two...
that being, impending doom.

If government is good at anything its wasting money so, they probably are.

If government was the only ones who knew, they would keep it secret to prevent chaos making things even worse. Since there would likely be disagreement about the details though, someone would be sure to publicize it so they could get money for their pet idea to diffuse the calamity.

With the level of beaurocracy, red tape, hidden agendas, conflict of interests, corruption and all the not so desirable traits common to our government and business environments, it is highly unlikely that we would be able to save ourselves from any disaster if it actually happened in 2012. Preparations should have begun fifty years ago.

History repeats itself, it's a cycle! hundred years later after WWI / WWII there is a huge possibilty something of that magnitude, even bigger taking into consideration the amount of nuclear arsenal the world countries possess, could happen again.

You can't tell the future, and they do know of some war or natural disaster they probably wouldn't tell us. They would want society to keep supporting the richer who will be able to maybe escape this "disaster". So... we are screwed if there is something happening, since we just probably assume it is propaganda.
