For a boy, I want to name my son Blaise. My husband says he'll turn into a pot-headif we name him Blaise. (I told him that was sacrilegious to say that.)

I kind of like the name Blaise. I dont think naming your child that will turn him into a pot head. Maybe he'll turn into a pyromanic - I associate Blaise with fire, not drugs. I think your husband may just be being silly. Maybe you could use Blaise as a middle name & not a first name to suit you both.

I LOVE Blaise! This used to be one of my favorite boy names in HS. And thank you for liking this spelling, too, LOL! It is much more pleasant than Blaze or any other trendy spelling out there. This is a wonderful, legit name and is used in French. It is also the name of a Saint.

I only know one Blaise. He is about 22 years old now. I went to HS with him. He was sort of artsy and a bit "punk." Totally funny! He also did not do drugs or drink. He was straight-edged.

I highly back up the name!

Sounds more like a soap-opera character. There was a Blaise Winter (that might not be spelled right) who used to play for the Packers though.

Well, It does sound like "blaze" which is a term for lighting up. I guess if it sounds amazing with your last name, go for it. But imagine saying, "blaze" all the time. I think you could do better. Plus, he wont really be able to experiment with it when he grows up like how guys named stephen can go by "steve" or "stevie." Keep on looking until you find a name both of you are CRAZY about.

There's nothing wrong with the name Blaise. In fact, it's cute! However, maybe you would like to consider Blane. It's my brother's name!

I have a cousin that named his son Blaze (4 years ago). I love it. It's not the name that turns someone into a pot head.

I actually like that name as well and if your son was to turn into a pothead I am sure the name will have nothing to do with it. I know many potheads and worse with very common names.

I like it, it's a very unique name.. but the spelling sucks!

Blaze (traditional spelling for a non-traditional name)

His opinion is invalid, when I hear the name not even one thought of pot or any other type of drugs enter my mind

OMG.... My mom wanted to name my brother that 15 years ago! She wanted to spell it Blayze. I LOVE the name! And tell your husband that a name is not going to turn your son into a pot head LOL.
