What makes a fan to YOU? Please give me your honest opinion. NO POSERS ALLOWED! I would also like to get the opinions of new fans of actors and/or musicians.

A fan cares about the music, and delves deeper into it than knowing the chorus.
A fan can intelligently defend their artist's work against non-fans.
A fan knows the history of their Artist
For a fan, outfits and haircuts don't matter. You love them anyway.
A fan catches any show of their artist within a hundred miles, and pays whatever it takes.
A fan loves to talk about their artist, even if no one else listens.
A fan embraces change.
A fan doesn't care what anyone else thinks about their artist.
A fan genuinely cares about the WORK of the artist. Thinking the lead singer is hot doesn't make you a fan.

I'll tell you what a real fan is...somone who is in it for the talent, not the looks. I know some of our favorite celebrites are gorgeous, but that's not the focal point, especially for a band.
With my favorite bands...I never diss the new fans, unless they are poseurs or fangirls. I'm happy that my favorite band is successful and are able to reach out to more fans. Most bands hate elitests anyways.
So as long as you like their songs, movies, shows etc, you are a fan, if you just like they way they look...you aren't a fan.

The makings of a fan involve a deep, emotional love of the band and their music, but mostly the music. The fans accept any choices the band makes in their career and support them instead of shunning them for changing. :]
