I have been thinking about joining the Air Force Reserves for awhile now. The problem is i don't think i would make it through basic training. I am about 5'5" and weigh 116. I have a lot of muscle but i was hoping someone out there could give me some advice.

Don't worry about that! My bunk mate was 5'2 150. Another guy was 5'7 125 or so. Lots of smaller guys. As long as you have a good head on your shoulders you will have no problem. Get in shape before you go though, it's much easier. I just went through basic too. Out of 50 some people, only one got washed back two weeks. Other people left for other reasons. But only one got washed back for disciplinary reasons. Another guy actually got hurt and couldn't do the morning work out or run and he still made it. Don't worry about your size. Make sure this is what you want to do before you decide though. Think it through, especially before you go talk to a recruiter. Good luck.

I don't think it would be a problem at all. I was your size when I joined the army and I made it through basic. It is hard work though. Just make sure you try to get in the best shape you can before you go. Run and do sit-ups and push ups.

The AF has one of the easiest basic training programs (at least it did 14 yrs ago), and one of the shortest. I was 6' and weighed 145, and I didn't have any problems.
