We used satin ribbon at Relay For Life every year. If you cut on a diagonal and line the very edge with some crazy glue and let that dry you won't have an problems with it unravelling.

We used glitter paint and stencils to ensure the letters were legible on ours but you can also buy pre-cut letters and glue them on. Be careful ironing anything on to the sashes because satin burns very easily.

Good luck!

Hey there I can help. My daughter is a pageant kid and we have used and made them before. Go to a flower shop and them that you need a yard of the ribbon that they use on the flowers probally the ones for graves cause it is usually wider. Then take that to a local craft store Hobby lobby, Joanns or micheals are all great. Then when you get the ribbon a very large roll should make a lot of them. You can use Stick on letters or or the fabric paint would work. Not sure how good the iron on letters would work.

good luck
