No.. it might offend them, but better for you to be safe, then to worry about how they feel.

This is a no brainer in my opinion, because if you want to be safer than sorry locking your door of your car will be a useful way of showing the three or four mean-looking guys that you want to be left alone... The guys could still damage your car and hurt you, but that would be done for sure if you left the door unlocked... wise prevention of harm to yourself or those in your car is by having a loud airhorn to make a constant high pitched noise to draw attention of other people, if you are attacked - read some books on preventing crime - report any assault to local police within the same hour - carry a cell phone - dial 911 for police or paramedics

No, it's not rude and it's not rude to turn around and watch them when you're walking and someone is walking behind you either. Statistics and common sense both tell you that if you keep walking or act like a big shot and leave the car doors unlocked, you're letting your potential threat know you are vulnerable and passive. It helps to carry a can of pepper spray and something else too??? :) I hate to talk bad about the city I grew up in but right now it's number 10 for the worst counties for violent crimes. I don't take any chances.

No, in today's world it is better to be safe. Because people are dangerous and crazy but if you only lock your doors when a specific group of people approach that is rude. However, you should lock your doors as soon as you get into the car.

it's sort of rude to judge a book by it's cover, so just lock your doors every time you get in your car, that way 1) you don't have to worry about who walks by your car if you're stopped at a red light or something and 2) if you wreck the door won't come open, you won't fly out, and the car won't land on you.

Seeing a thug doesn't always mean they'll harm you. Being cautious is a good thing but when they see it, some will be offended & bound to think you're discriminating. A nothing becomes a big thing.

no, try this, before you put your seat belt on everyday you drive just reach over and lock the door. safety first, it may not always look like a thug who car jacks someone.
