it gives a player a one year deal that has no signing bonus, which is the average of the top 5 salarys of that position. example : if you put the franchist tag on a quarterback, and the top salaries are 6,7,8,9, and10 million. then the franchise tag would be 8 million for one year. obviously the numbers would be more obscure

what the franchise tag does is not necessarily keep you off limits to other teams but it if you want to be traded the other team has to give up its 1st round draft pick for that year & the next year not to mention u get the average of the top 5 players in your position with a 1 year contract & if you do get traded the team you were traded to gets your salary.

It means that after 4 years when he's a free agent his team opts to put the "franchise tag" on him. Basically declaring him off limits to any other teams wanting to acquire him.

It means they have to clean the clubhouse after everyone else has left. They also can't park in the player's lot and have to take a trolley to the game (if they play in SF).
