I agree with the previous post, don't treat unless you are really sure what you are treating for. Sometimes treatments are father rough on fish and a source of added stress you don't want unless it's for a very good reason. Fin rot has a rather distinctive appearance Here's a picture of somewhat advanced fin rot:

Note the redness in both cases and the ragged look to the entire fin on the lower fish. If the missing finage does not show this classic redness, don't treat for fin rot. If you do need to treat though, a quality antibiotic like Maracyn or Maracyn 2 would be the treatment of choice. Remove the fish to a seperate treatment container if possibleas the treatment would kill the beneficial bacteria in you tank / pond and stress all of your fish.

Are you sure it was't tore off? Meds for fin rot are the best way to treat the fin. you will need a Bacterial medicine.

Remember koi will be breeding now with the full moon. If it is a female prior to treating, be sure the fin is not torn due to rough breeding behavior.

Fin rot is not caused by flux's in PH. It is a bacterial infection usually caused by stress. Which is why I say to check your fish carefully. Breeding will also do this

If you go to your local pet store, they'll have drops specially made for fin rot. I'm not going to say a specific brand because each store sells different ones, but they all do the same thing. Also, just test your water to make sure the water is the proper pH level. Sometimes your water can be too acidic for the type of fish you have.
