I read a lot the comments some people leave about names. They will get teased, wont like it as an adult, have a hard time spellling them or whatever your excuse is. If someone down the line didnt get created with names we would all have the same name! I know people that have been teased because their name was Bob or even Mary. I was teased about my name, Natalie. Kids will tease no matter what name you give them. Please stop hating on our unique and different names. All i ever see is people wanting to name kids with common names like Grace, Rose, John, and Jack. Open up your eyes and realize we all deserve are own special name!!! Not your name or your brothers name or whatever!!!

You go girl. I had the same problem when i was pregnant with my daughter. I was going to name her Arizona Leigh, but my own aunts and uncles.....even my mom thought it was stupid and that she was going to be teased like being called Arizona Tea or Arizona Jeans or something stupid. Eventually because of all the hackeling from my family we named her Alexis Leigh.

But I think creativity is important it makes life a lot more interesting. Just not naming the kid after a kitchen appliance or anything. I went to school with a kid named Microwave. His mother was so high, she named him the first thing she saw after he was born.

I don't think anyone really "cares" what other people name their children and I don't think anyone "cares" if other people like the names we choose for our own children. And yet, everyone does seem to have an opinion on the topic. You, for example, have a very strong opinion that people should choose names you deem "special." Some people find names like Rose and Grace to be special--you prefer something funkier.

When I look at the names you have selected for your children, I know more about YOU than I do about them. Here is my guess: You are young--probably under 25. You may or may not be married to your children's daddy. You may have a high school diploma, but you didn't go to college. If you work outside the home, it's secretarial work, daycare, or blue-collar. Your annual household income is less than 50K. How do I know this? Because this is the demographic of the people who prefer "kreativ" spellings over more traditional names.

Grace, Rose, John, and Jack (though Jack is a knickname for John so they probably aren't brothers) probably come from homes very different from yours. Their parents are likely more educated and have better paying jobs.

The beauty of this is that in a free country, you get to name your kids whatever you want!

I agree with you that kids will find ways to tease others' names no matter what it is. But some people could do their kids a favor by spelling their childrens' names correctly. Some alternate spellings are acceptable, but some are just ridiculous and make their poor child and/or parents' look uneducated.

Whether we like it or not, this word is very cruel. If a manager sees a crazy name on a resume and/or application, that person could be rejected from the job based on this person's biased views.

My only pet peeve is spelling really. Different names can be okay- but not totally off the wall names.

Overall, I don't care what people do decide to name their kids. It is their children afterall. I am just here to offer my personal opinion.

I like to also hear what other people think. But in the end, I will go with a name no matter what others say, if it's what I love.

People are so concerned about what you think of the names. That's what amazes me. My kids are both in their 20's now. I like to see what people are naming their kids these days is why I look at the baby names.

I personally would have never come on here and said what do you think of the name ? If people hated it, It would be hard to forget.

I never shared my babies names with anyone until they were born. Once they are born and they are already named, people aren't likely to say too much.

But, when you ask their opinion before they are born, most people are going to give it to you.

I totally agree with you. Each child deserves their own name and their own identity. I personally love your name and agree that the most common names get old.

My grandaughters name is Isabella and I truly don't like it, but my kids named her that. I love her to death, but I think she deserved a more original name. Oh well, live and let live.

Because some names just sound illiterate and selfish parents think they are doing their kids a favor by giving them a goofy spelling.

Statistic show children with names spelled correctly fare better in life. Why create one more hassle in a life full of hassles?

Jasmine/Jayzmyn if the name sounds the same why spell it funny?

Jasmine spelled correctly is already unique compared to Susan or Kimberly.

Sorry but Jayden is NOT your "own special name" when 10 kids in class are Jahden, Jaydhan, Jaden, etc.... it just sounds like people are trying too hard.

I agree kids will tease kids no matter what their name is. I picked what I thought was a unique name for my daugther. Although once she was born, I came to find out many girls had the same name. I did spell it different from the norm. I have a common name 3 girls in my graduating class had the same name as me and one had my middle name. I think its great when people use their creativity to name their kids.

My name is Asya (pronounced Asia) like the continent! I love it. I hardly ever got teased as a kid. Everyone always told me I had a beautiful name, and I couldn't be happier with my name. Thanks Mom!

P.S. The name you picked out for your daughter is really pretty, and I am glad you spelled Jasmyne with a "Y" instead of an "I".

I totally agree with you.. however some names like Apple and Coco should not be used for a kid, but other names are great! Heck when I was in Kindergarten, I had a boy named Nicholas in my class, and he went by Nick, and the kids made fun of him.. they were always like Nick Nick Nick Nick Nick Nickelodeon!!.. So whatever name you have kids will find a way to make fun of it! So I agree 100%.

I realy think people should put thought into what they name their babies... don't just pick the name you have like since you were 3. Pick a name with meaning
I named my last son Khalid Dakarai and it means eternal happiness. This name has meaning behind it, and wouldn't you know he is the happiest baby I have ever encountered.

I named my other two bible names.

Pick something that has meaning to you.
