After all, discovering another life form with equal, superior or even inferior intelligence would open up an entire avenue of whether life is really simply about man and his bond with God in the spiritual sense. As well in the scientific sense we would also have to question whether we (as humans) were any longer able to categorize ourselves as the superior life form if we ultimately found another outside life form. Reason being is, even if the discovered life form was less intelligent or developed, logic would still suggest that perhaps there are even more life forms out there that remain undiscovered - possibly more intelligent, advanced, and overall superior. Just my own thinking, but what do you think?

In my opinion, it would add to the meaningfulness of life. When I read about the discoveries of new species, such as in the seas or, recently, in the jungles of Borneo, I am constantly amazed at the diversity of life. Each new species of animal or plant life brings something unique to the biodiversity of planet Earth.

If alien life were discovered elsewhere, I think it would just be amazing what we could learn and discover from those species, whether they were more or less advanced then ourselves.

Aliens of superior intelligence would not allow us inferiors to discover them. They would discover us and study us covertly before attempting to use us or eat us the same way we do with inferior life forms. Aliens of inferior intelligence would be exciting, yes, the way new life forms discovered in the ocean depths are exciting. It shows us that we can never know or learn or discover everything, because there is always something more. As far as the meaningfulness of life, the discovery of additional inferior life forms makes no difference in the meaning of my life. I know that my life is but a vapor that is here for a moment and then is gone. Whatever other life forms are with me on my journey and whether I am aware of them does not affect the meaning of my own life. My spiritual bond with God is not altered by the existence of aliens.

i think that many people could take it as an insult to find other forms of life, but i think it could be a good thing (i don't know how, though). i do believe that it would require a great deal of work for our society (especially the extremely religious section) to be able to cope with a new discovery and come to terms with our existence. i don't think that people would want to admit our inferiority if there was a more advanced life form somewhere else, and i think that this would lead into a great philosophical debate. it's really intriguing, isn't it? i've always had a hard time trying to find a purpose that envelopes the entire human race, but maybe if we discovered another life-form, there could be a new purpose for humanity....

I believe most scientists and intelligent people would hale the discovery of more life in our universe. Of course it would be especially meaningful if that life were intelligent so we could compare experiences, theories, data, etc. But even if the life were microbial it would be a great discovery. It would show that life is possible all over the universe and not just an accident that happened on one planet in one galaxy.

The only ones who might have a problem with it are religious fundamentalist of the western faiths who believe that life was created only on this earth and for man to rule over. If another intelligent species were found what type of religion, if any, would they have? Would they have their own creation mythology? Would they have a Christ of their own? If not, did our Christ die for their sins too?

Lots of questions would be answered but a lot more would arise.

Well First there isn't any aliens life forms is discovered till this day..but in imagining its something possible and no religions actually ever said anything about aliens but this doesn't mean that its impossible but its mentioned on alot of religions that humans are the masters of Earth and Not the world..that leads us that there is could be masters of another planet or something but i guess we will never see them or meet them till the judgment day when everything that god created will all stand and he starts his judgment and starts asking them about what they have done in their lives that's the only moment when we are gonna meet them that's my thinking anyway....may be I'm right may be I'm wrong only god knows the future

Well, i think Aliens and stuff are wicked awesome, but that's my opinion and i think that to other ppl it might detract and others may think it would add. I personally think it would add bc ppl could have new pets, technowledgy, etc... and from what I've learned aliens are similar to us and might have medicine that we havent come up with and it could advance Earth by a few years if you know what i mean. I've been waiting to answer a question like that for awhile!!! lol

This reminds me of something...
Sherlock Holmes and Mr. Watson went camping. About 3am, Sherlock glanced at the stars overhead, then woke Watson.
"Watson? Take a look at those stars up there and tell me what you ascertain".
Watson gazed at them for several minutes then said "My word, Sherlock! There are billions and billions of stars out there. I ascertain there must be intelligent life out there somewhere. What do you think?"
Sherlock said "I believe someone has stolen our tent!"

i completely agree with you. it can only add to the splendor of life if it is rich and diverse. i think people are too egocentric and give themselves too much credit. there is a whole universe out there, why should we be the only ones to enjoy its magnifecence!!!! it is so vast that it would be a tremendous waste of space if this was the only place with life!!!!!!!
