Only 4% of babies are born on their "due date" http://transitiontoparenthood.com/ttp/parented/pregnancy/duedate.htm

For the most part the date is fairly accurate for a month. Maybe even a week. But there are also other factors that need to be thought of as well, such as complications and how many other children were born before. I am a mother of three and my first was 3 wks early... I was a smoker at the time. My second came 3 months early due to stress. and my third came 5 weeks early because of being the third and my previous pregnancy being early as well. My sister on the other hand had her child the day after her due date. It is just the doctors best guess.

Not all that accurate. The date can come anywhere from 2 weeks before to 2 weeks after the expected due date. The doctor can tell by the ultrasound what the due date is but the baby is going to come out when it's good and ready. My friend just had hers on her due date though. KJ

Well there are two dates.... the one they calculate from the last period and the one from the sonogram, the more specific is the one of the last period because the one on the sonograms change because they are based on the baby's development..... Mine change from 3 different dates (sonogram), the last time I went the sonogram had me for the 19, the last period had me for the 13 and I gave birth the 11....

Like 3%. I had my son on my due date, halloween...only because I had to be induced. But the chances are super slim of it happening naturally.

it just gives a guesstimate. Really it's whenever the baby is ready to come out.
