No, you don't need iTunes, although Apple likes for people to think you do. Windows Media Player can also sync your music. However, iTunes is free to download and use. Just pay attention to the set-up process because iTunes likes to copy all of your music to a separate folder so you may want to avoid that if you don't have a lot of memory to spare.

you can use itunes w/o having to pay anything...you can use the program to convert your cds into mp3s(or whatever music file you prefer) so that you can load them onto your ipod. but you can also use itunes to download music for a fee.

you're able to opt to be waiting to pull them from the limewire folder on your library. in case you could't, close limewire down, then in itunes click checklist > import - and then ingredient it on your limewire tunes - it is going to import them into itunes for you.
