I did see a doctor, it's for my son.
I'm just after personal experiences.

This happened to my son. The doctor prescribed some antibiotics and some ear drops to protect the inner ear until it healed.

It was a couple of weeks, and he didn't suffer any hearing loss.

Good luck to you and your son.

How long it takes to heal depends on how extensive the damage is. Your hearing will be affected some but it also depends on the extent of damage as well. My best suggestion is to get to a doctor as soon as possible. There are perscription medications that they can give you that can help ward off any infetcion and also help with pain. With that help it will allow you the best chance of limited hearing loss. Mean while until you can get to a doctor try putting a few drops of warm clove oil in you ear to soothe the pain. This is an old Native American remedy. Hope this helps.

dont think it heals, you have to get it a tiny stitch put in it. but i would try not to get any water in that ear! and it's a common thing, lots of people have problems with there ears, and if you go to a doctor i'm sure it wont be that big of a deal! it'll be over with quicker then you know it! just get it checked!

when my son ear drums ruptured he was given antibiotic drops and was told to not get any water in his ear for 2 weeks. He has a 15% hearing loss but this is because his eardrums are severely scarred from infections and surgurys to repair earlier damage from infections and ruptures.

Like verslantly said, go to the hospitol. If you get an infection that close to your brain it can be life threatening.

As far as recovery goes, that really depends on the extent of the damage and how quickly it was treated.
