They will take a history and a short exam, and then an x ray obviously. Bring a list of all the medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are on. Also bring your insurance card as well.

They will first examine your foot to determine the need for x-rays. On this point be adamant. I was told my son didn't have a broken arm. I insisted on x-rays and the doctors were amazed to discover, it was actually broken in two places.
If they find a break, they will most likely put on a temporary cast, then refer you to an orthopedic surgeon. The x-rays themselves should give several different views of the foot.
If you do go to see a surgeon, he will need to reset the bones. This can be very painful, but, it is necessary.
If it is a severe break, you may require surgery. Many times, depending on which bones are broken, they won't do anything more. The bones just heal themselves. This is only true is there isn't a complete break.
I don't think there is anything you need to bring other than your checkbook and insurance card.
If you think it can wait, go to your own doctor. It will be cheaper, and he can recommend a good orthopedist for you.
When the cast is off, you may require some physical therapy as well.
Good luck.
