the only reason the media focuses on him is because he was a wealthy football player...what about the thousands of others?!?

I was in country during the Tillman incident. When an individual dies the process could take weeks depending on the variables involved. I am sick and tired of hearing about Pat Tillman. What about the other 3,000 who have given their lives? All they are now are some damn statistic that the news blurts out. I understand Pat Tillman made the ultimate sacrifice but his family needs to understand that they are prolonging their pain. I wish each individual who gave their life could get the same recognition as Pat Tillman, instead of four more died today.

I think they hyped it up because it was such a great story. Focus the attention of the hundreds and thousands of other troups that are dying out there. Everyone wanted to be a hero then. A "Pat Tillman". The government doesn't care about 1 soldiers family. They need recruits. They covered it up as long as possible but I guess it ended blowing up in there face.

Sick isn't it? He didn't want to be exploited and in the ultimate shame the Govt. exploited his death. He always said he was nothing more then an Army Ranger and no more important then any other solider. In fairness Tillman DID die in a firefight to a degree, although I think his side wasn't firing back for long. Yeah it was friendly fire, but still was fire fight wasn't it? It wasn't the lie that bothered me as much as the fact that they exploited him against his wishes.
hey maxhound people wouldn't want the officals held responsible if they wouldn't have LIED. Espically since they LIED for their own interests. They could have simply said he was killed. They KNEW there was a chance it was friendly fire when they announced it was "an ambush". THAT is why people want someone held responsiable.

The government lies about a lot! And yes, they did lie about Pat Tillmans death! I'm not sure why they did it though... I would be pissed if I were Pat's family!

A lot of people are killed by friendly fire, it happens in war. This crap of holding all these officers and men responsible is bullshit. If it wasn't a celebrity you would never heard of it.
