n copies

40 cents for the first 3 copies

n-3 copies left at 7 cents each...7(n-3)

total: 7(n-3) + 40 = 75
7n-21+40=75
7n+19=75
n=8

.75 = .40 + .07x
x = number of copies
.35/.07 = x
x = 5
plus the 3 that you get for the first .40 cents
so 8 total

it would be 8 copies. you subtract 40 automatically, since u need that to begin with, and u get 35
then u just divide 7(the cost) by 35(what u have left for the cost) and u get 5. add 3 to 5 and u get 8
