My husband is an alcoholic and he has said some very hurtful things to me......and done some very hurtful things, but I think it is just nastiness in his personality surfacing, and that because your close to someone like a husband or boyfriend they let it out on you. My husband and I are separated and have been for awhile, because I couldn't take the hurt anymore. Sometimes I would look at him and ask him,"do you even believe the stuff coming out of your mouth" some of the stuff was pure fabrication. No it isn't always true.

I've heard it said that when drinking a person loses their inhibitions. To me that means their inner most insecure thoughts are talking. They say things like children do, spontaneous and off the cuff. Maybe it is themself that's talking and it's something they don't admit to thinking, or maybe it's just some thought that went by their subconscious and stuck there. I'm not a doctor, not a shrink, but that would be a good question to ask a shrink. I do know that with hypnosis sometimes comments can be misinterpreted or sometimes thoughts can be put into someone's head when under hypnosis. So your guess is as good as mine.

In many years of being around people drinking I have found that alcohol usually just loosens the lips, meaning they usually hold true to what they are thinking although when some one is drinking you can not read between the lines because they tend not to think in layers as people do sober.
THe other thing that I have noticed is it all depends on what the conversation is before, if impared people are provoked they say the first thing that pops into their head........... so that may not be true.

Probably, not that i have done this myself as i don't drink but I've witnessed many people that have have said some really bad things when drunk and i knew that they meant or at least felt what they said. Sure they regret it after and so will start the 'oh my gosh i can't believe i said that' bullshit.
And also you can just tell if they mean it. The eyes never lie.

I think they do, i know i do. If something has been on my mind it always pops out when I'm drunk.
I even think those people who drink then get violent and abusive mean it i don't care if they remember or not in they morning at they time they are doing it they are enjoying the freedom of being able to say whatever they please.
