I recently had a 30 thousand km service on a 04 BA XR8 and was told by the mechanic that the inside wall of the tyre is severely cracked to a dangerous level. The rest of the tyre is still in good condition. I have heard of Dunlop and Ford replacing these tyres but received a cold response from the dealer. Does anyone have any information on this?

I bought a beautiful old Porsche with very low mileage. It had been meticulously maintained including tire dressing. When I put it on a lift the back side of the tires were cracked beyond belief. Totally unsafe. The cracks were in-keeping with the tires' age but the pampered outside belied the condition.

I can see no other reason for the tires to be cracked on the inside only. Can yhou check the age by the serial number?
