It doesn't get heavier, your muscles just get tired and it gets harder to hold.

It's not heavier silly...that is mostly consideration...and the leverage you are using to hold it with...develop what is known as intention and you could probably hold a mountain over your head...or like Jimi Hendricks you could chop one down with the edge of your hand...it's all just part of the agreement we all have on how this silly universe works.

People judge the weight of things by the effort it takes to lift them. A heavy object *seems* to get heavier because your arms get weaker, so it requires more effort. Your arms get weaker due to a depletion of oxygen in the muscle tissue as its consumed in muscle contraction. Also, a metabolic waste product of muscle use is lactic acid, which causes that familiar "feel the burn" pain. The pain contributes to the greater effort perceived.

It's a conspiracy: the object actually does get heavier; your muscles don't get tired at all. Newton actually proved this, but he was snuffed out before he had a chance to prove this. :))

it doesn't get heavier. you're just getting tired since you're losing energy when holding something.
