No. Socialist parties, which have had much more popularity in Europe as leftist parties, are often much more liberal than the United States' Democratic party. The US Democratic party is actually rather moderate, there are just plenty of people that are left-wing, just as there are plenty of especially conservative Republicans. So, you can call it a Social Democratic party if ya want, but I wouldn't go so far to rename it a Socialist party.
Hope you read this!

Are you talking about the Democratic Party in the U.S. or the Democrats in Australia or in another country. It would be good if you were specific. Neither the US Democratic Party or the Australian party could ever be called socialist. The US Democrats do not espouse "socialism" and are right-wing in politics . The Australian party, although moderate and in the centre as far as politics is concerned, also cannot be classed as 'socialist'. In fact it was founded by a former member of the Liberal Part of Australia, a right-wing political party.

Nah, names don't mean anything. Sure, the Democrats have been advocating mostly socialist policies recently, but they have no exclusive on socialism. Frankly, I think George Bush is more of a "big government type" than Bill Clinton ever was.

Yes. They should also stop using the term liberal. A liberal is a person who supports freedom and limited government the exact oppositte of the Democratic Party. The left has a long history of hijacking good words for their cause. Besides democratice and liberal my favorite is progressive. ha.

No that would be stupid. The democrats have nothing to do with socialism. They believe in social programs to benefit the greatest number of people, tht is not what socialism is. The words just sound alike. Like the words magician and musican. They just sound alike. Maybe you should ask your teacher if you can stay in during recess and she can explain it to you, how words that sound alike don't necessarly mean the same thing.

Most definetely. Any party that thinks the government can live people's lives better than the people should be considered socialist at least,if not just full fledged communists. Republicans are working on being just as bad.
