Depending on the load you want to pull the diesel is hands down , your best option. Dura-max engine & Allison transmission are a pretty able combination.Mileage is pretty decent for a 3/4 ton as well, however initial cost is quite a bit more. I don't think you will be spending any more on fuel than if you had gas.
great resale value on the diesels too..

the pros and cons over this question has been going on for ever, but now you can get a gas truck with the same gas mil as a diesel and just as much tork, the ram 1500 with the hemi is 345 hp and 375 tork and still gets 19 20 miles to the gal and a buddy of mine just bought a 2006 f350 power-stroke and he only gets 19 hwy, so if y ou want to spend and extra 9000 dollars when you buy it and then pay 122$ every time you have to get the oil changed and the other expensive maintenance that is called for on a diesel truck the choice is yours.

I would get the gas truck because gas in cheaper, but you want more power than getting the diesel truck would be best for you.

If you are going to be towing heavy loads I would say buy the diesel, the gas engines are going to be about 5k less and the fuel cost is going to be less at the pump although the diesel gets better gas mileage..The diesel is also going to be more maintenance, expect oil changes to be around 100.00 each time you change your oil..

go to the new truck dealer of your choice and drive two similarly equipped trucks , 1 with gas 1 with diesel. see for yourself. its also depends on the primary use of the truck. if your going to be carrying a load or towing alot you'll want the diesel. check out anything gm with the duramax engine.

the price of paying for a sparkling diesel truck my marvel you. you are able to assume to spend 10K more advantageous to get the diesel engine. do a touch math and ascertain out what percentage miles it is going to take to get a go back on your funding. A gasoline truck can run for properly over 200K miles if the upkeep is carried out wisely. using habit is often why you ought to opt for between both engines. be conscious: Diesel engines do no longer delay lengthy if consistently began and stopped.

Diesel because you will get all the power you will ever want. My Dodge 3500 withe the Cummings engine has great power and I still get around 25 mpg on the highway.

Diesel.
Better mileage, more power.
Higher cost at purchase though.
