It doesn't take courage to admit that you're a former drug user, only honesty. And if you're only admitting that you're a former drug addict to avoid the inevitable disclosure of the fact at some future time, it's hardly commendable. I'm actually quite sick of the "good for you-you came out of the closet" crap. A person who is a former drug addict has no business running the country. Unfortunately, because of the widespread use of drugs, as well as alcoholism, we're running out of qualified candidates from which to choose. Pathetic, isn't it?

All he did was reveal the fact before the press did. He does have guts to actually run when he would have no idea what he's doing!
Sorry but he would be a disaster just like Hillary would be and Carter was. Carter was inexperienced too but at least he was a former Governor. Obama doesn't even have that in his resume.

His first book which touched on his drug use, " Dreams of My Father" was first published in August of 1995, 12 years ago. Long before he entered politics and ran for the IL state senate.
He did revisit it in his second book, " The Audacity of Hope" was published in October of last year.
So your reasoning that if he had not discussed it, it would have eventually come out is extremely flawed

Have You forgotten that Dems love to support losers. Having a problem with drugs or alcohol qualifies you for leadership in their party. Look at Kerry, Kennedy and Pelosi. Dems despise those that practice moral living. What good is life if you can't commit a few thousand sins. Ask Ted Kennedy.

The first step in healing is admitting you have a problem. If you are Obama, that means confessing to the media. Give the guy a break he's under a lot of pressure right now.

It's their way of doing that thing that liberals do that I've never been able to explain. Only the democrats would admire him, it causes me to wonder if he'd ever weaken under pressure and go back to them. I mean he still smokes so he still needs a crutch.

because they want him to get elected, and if they just say he's a coke head, it doesn't sound so good. Courage in their world sure doesn't mean what it does in mine.

Since he is a Democrat he did not have to say anything about drug use and could have gotten away with it.
