The guy I am dating said the same thing to me. I gave him a menu choice and he challenged me by saying "if I could cook I could make the lamb, if not the chicken", when I had him over for dinner for the first time. I made the lamb.
I told him after dinner, it was his loss as the "chicken" I had planned on making was cornish game hen-lol!
I'm 35 and an excellent cook. My mother taught me the basics when I was young, and traveling around the world helped me expand my knowledge of cuisine (spices...etc).
People say they are too busy, but cooking a great meal only takes a little while...by the time you load the kids in the car, drive someplace, order etc...you can have a healthy meal on the table.
Unfortunately, I think cooking may be an art that is being lost to frozen specialty foods and restaurants.

One reason I think is because easy and fast has become a
commercialized aspect of today's life in general eally do you think alot of woman are going to slave over a hot oven and stove for a couple of hours when they can just grab a bag and throw it in the nuker. There are alot of ladies that cook for the family those ladies are the ones that take heart to doing something nice for there family and would rather give there hubby and kids if they have some a nutritional meal minus all the perservatives found in your pre-packaged meals.
But also remember this alot of couples both work full-time and the whole stay at home mom and the house wife has gone the way of the dodo so to speak. This day and age you need a double income just to pay the bills.

I really don't know. I can cook, and I work 2 jobs, live an active lifestyle, and have a teenage daughter. My husband, a Type 1 diabetic who works long hours, can also cook, and sometimes we even prepare meals together! I've also involved my daughter in meal preparation from a young age, and she's able to prepare simple meals herself when necessary, despite being an honors student and serious ballet student with a rigorous schedule.
Maybe some people (men and women) are just plain lazy!

Hey Joe, what's wrong with you cooking for once? Get out of the stone ages and enter the year 2007. Men cheat, women cheat, what does this have to do with cooking? Both my husband and I share cooking, though I do most of it on the weekdays and he helps more on the weekends when we use our grill. Don't use your personal experience as a standard for everyone.

That's a real good question. I wonder that myself especially if they are not working and the husband is carrying all the financial responsibilities. I'd love to cook for my husband if he was bringing in more of the dough than I was. There's just way too many lazy women in this world now a days.

I do not cheat, I do not have kids, and am an excellent cook, not only are my meals delicious, they are also healthy.
You could not PAY me to eat at McDonald's, I do not eat any fast food, but would rather eat , well, nothing, than eat there.
PS: I work full time, have a good paying job, so sorry to blow all of your pre-conceived ideas out of the water.
Have a Great evening!!

Hmmm...........
That would be a great question. I'd love to say I knew the answer to that one. But I have a hunch as to maybe why...
Today's society isn't "Leave it to Beaver"anymore. So women aren't able to stay home, and "TEACH" children how to cook! lol
Instead they are required to go out, and make the money, to help share the responsiblities of a common household.
Therfore, there is another generation looking for the golden arches for a happy meal. YUCK... mcnuggets are nasty, and always cold. Poor kids! (sorry stood on the soap box for a moment)
That is why I tell my Boys... (sons) That they need to learn to cook. Because with todays society.. they may be the one doing the cooking, and teaching there children.
Good luck.. hope you find out the mystery to WHY women aren't cooking as often. lol
I LOVE TO COOK... you should try it sometime!!

I don't think it has anything to do with cheating, it could be three reasons and three reasons only.
One: they are working mothers on the run ( and I don't mean to the restroom all the time) I mean careers, children activities like sports, meeting, house chores, taking take care of the hubby.
Two: they are just damn lazy
Three:being raised by the father.
See so the three above causes constant drive threw at Micky Dee's.
poor kids yulk food, make them obese.

LMAO Joe B you are at it again. Yes we have to quick drive through McD's after an afternoon of steamy sex. NOT! Trust me, most married women do not want another man, let alone the one they got! Personally I hate cooking because I hate making the mess so I really don't put much effort into it. So that is why I don't cook.

Women can't cook, because when they could be learning how to cook they are too busy trying to get a job to support themselves.
