This assumes that you already have high speed Internet coming in to your house and that it's working. For lack of any other details, I'm going to assume that if it's DSL, then a username and password are required ("PPPoE"). If you're using cable Internet, then I'm going to assume that no password is required.

I recommend a D-Link router, but Belkin, Linksys, Netgear or just about any brand of 802.11 b/g wireless router will do. You can get this from any Fry's, OfficeMax, OfficeDepot, Best Buy, etc. With the modem unplugged, run the network / Ethernet patch cable from the modem to the WAN port of the router. Plug in both the router and the modem.

If you have DSL service, you'll have to setup PPPoE on the router with the username and password given to you by your ISP. The instructions provided with the router will provide these details (it's usually best to have a computer plugged directly into one of the four LAN ports on the router so that when you open a browser like Internet Explorer, you'll have the option of either entering the IP address of the router in the address field of the browser to access the router, or sometimes the router will automatically open up to the configuration page of the router).

If you have cable Internet service, chances are that no username or password combination will be required, in which case the Internet should be working once you plug the PC in to the router (explained as follows).

Those computers that are physically located near the router would not necessarily need to be connected wirelessly. Most wireless routers come with 4 ports in which you could connect a computer with a network cable / Ethernet patch cable. Just plug the network cable from any one or more computers directly into any one of the four ports on the router. Assuming that Windows on the computer is already configured to automatically get an IP address (this is usually the default setting anyway), the computer should connect to the router and thus, the Internet without much difficulty.

For those computers you want connected wirelessly, you'll need a wireless card suitable for the computer. Desktop / tower PCs use a PCI card (or wireless USB network card if you don't feel like opening the case of the PC). In either case, a PCI card is recommended. For a laptop, a PC card is recommended, although you could also use the same wireless USB network card as previously mentioned. Before installing the card, you'll usually have to install the software first so that the drivers and any other utilities for the card are installed. When installing the PCI card into the desktop, make sure the PC is powered off when installing. The PC can remain powered on while installing the wireless USB in either a desktop or laptop, or wireless PC card in a laptop (usually without even having to reboot the PC after the driver disk is installed).

There are other details required to secure your network from undesired "visitors," but you should be able to read about this in the manual provided by either the wireless network card or wireless router. Furthermore, support for installation and more security is also usually available from the wireless card and/or router manufacturer's website.

you need a source of a connection, that has an ethernet output. Then you need a wireless router to convert the ethernet to a wireless signal. (Pay attention to the letter of the type of wireless
i.e. wireless g.) finally, get an adapter for each computer that has the same letter as the router you use.(the adapter could be a PCI card for a desktop, a notebook card for a laptop, or a usb adapter for either a desktop or a notebook

Get a wireless modem, wireless internet card (for laptops), or wireless router.
Wireless modem is the best of the 3.

Each computer must have a wireless card and you need a wireless router. Set up is pretty simple.

If they are destops, you will need USB wireless adapters. If they are laptops if they have wifi you will not need anything. But you will need a router, and you can get one at walmart, about 50 dollars. Get ne at the stre, and it will have instructions.
