I'm really wanting to know about why we are in Iraq, I don't really know anything about it because our newspapers stopped coming and our TV broke..yeah i kno....anyway...if you could tell me how it all started and what's happening and everything....and maybe in like..simple terms.....Thanks! I'm very news deprived.

If you have access to the Internet, how can you be news deprived? Do your own research! Mostly all we're doing in Iraq is screwing up!! (Politically, not militarily).
Our army should stick to what its good at... kicking the crap out of other armies! Not trying to provide security in a country that hates us alot, but hates each other (Sunnis & Shi'as) way more. Add to that a never ending flow of foreign insurgents into the mix and you have a recipe for failure... its time we realized that and got the fudge out!

We are there to DE-stabilize the middle east. Simply divide the region and transfer the oil profits to the corporations. Iraq was doing two things the oil corporations didn't like 1) Saddam was pumping too much oil driving the price down. 2) He had a national law that said no foreign corporation could pump oil out of Iraq. This was one of the very first "new" laws our puppet government changed after they took over.
The war is going exactly according to plan....Iraq is totally smashed and in will falling complete civil war when the Shite (majority) kill of the (formerly in power under Saddam) Sunni's.
We don't wan't strong leaders and progress in the middle east that is why we will now find a way to manufacture a reason to bomb Iran (Shite majority) back to the stone age. Like these 15 British sailors captured. Sounds a lot like the 2 captured Jewish solders in Lebanon. (Test case) Notice the Iran side is not being reported nor is the fact that the Iraq/Iran sea territory has always been under dispute since the Iraq v. Iran war. The UK is just drawing a line on the map where they need to to fit there story. And where exactly was this boat and what was it doing when it was captured?
The goal of the Iraq war is to involve the entire region into a Shite v Sunni = Iran v Saudi Arabia war. And BP and Exxon/Mobil gets the oil when its over and make massive profits in the mean time and it keeps the oil away from the real threat to the west ...CHINA.

Read public law 107-234 overwhelmingly passed by congress in October of 2002. In passing this law congress gave Bush the authority to invade Iraq. It also lists 24 reasons why we invaded. A link to the text of the law is below.

We are there because Sadaam defied 13 UN stipulations that he change in order to treat people decently. He also killed a few hundred thousand of his people so he was a hitler figure. We have been there just trying to stablize the country so the Iraqi army can take over and maintain security; not an easy task.

We have more troops going to Iraq
We have troops in Afghanistan
We have 3 military vessels and 1 on the way in the Persian Gulf
Who is in the middle?? Iran

basically, Bush thought there were weapons of mass destruction so he invaded.
but in my terms, we are doing nothing more than placating Bush's ego (making him feel good about himself)
