I am a very energetic, caring, loving and hard working individual who needs a job as a live in caregiver or companion to take care of an elderly person or even a child who cannot help him or her self. Preferably in the New York area. Thank you.

In the United States there is a network of organizations called Area Agencies on Aging. There is an Area Agency on Aging serving every community in the United States and in U.S. territories. These folks know about different organizations that need workers in the field of caregiving or companions. They also may be able to connect you to an individual or family caregiver who needs immediate help.

You can call toll-free 1-800-677-1116 to find the contact information for the specific Area Agency on Aging where you live. Call the Area Agency on Aging and ask to speak with the staff person who handles the "Family Caregiver" or "In-Home Care" program. Tell this person that you seek employment as a caregiver and ask them questions about qualifications and possible work in the area and for someone with your qualifications. You might also ask them for organizations in the area that might be looking for home companions or paid caregivers.

Of course, any credible employer will want to conduct an extensive background check on you. So, don't be offended if you are asked to sign a "release of information" form or a similar document.

I hope this helps. Best wishes and good luck!

Surely this is not your entire marketing strategy? I hope that people would think twice before inviting someone to live in their home and care for a loved one based on an internet posting.

It's great that you're energetic, loving and hardworking. But are you qualified? Certified? Do you know CPR? Any references? Will you submit to a credit/background check? Are you affilliated with any caretaker's association or professional organization?

If you take out an ad looking for positons, be sure to list all your qualifications, affiliations, and other pertinent details. You might consider joining an association that places caretakers professionally.
