Laptop is making this weird noise, I'm not sure if it's the fan or not, but the noise comes and goes and doesn't really affect the computer. This started happening recently... any ideas?

The only moving parts are the fan and the hard drive. It should be fairly obvious which one it is.
In either case, this needs to be fixed ASAP!
If the fan is stopping, you can burn out your cpu. If it's your drive, you need to get the data off before it fails.
Typically it's the fan. If so, it's replaceable.

What brand of laptop? Mine is hp pavilion and they have a website and a chat room to talk to techs.

Fan, my computer is doing it too.
Depending on how bad it is, it might or might not be urgent to replace it, although you will definatly want to.
