has anyone taken Effexor XR? Did it help

My sister took it and it didn't help her at all. I personally believe that antidepressants are very rough on a body and people shouldn't take them unless they really need it. She became chemically addicted to them. They were giving her severe muscle spasms throughout her entire body and horrible mood swings and anger. She tried to gradually come off them and she started having symptoms of a stroke. She went into to seizures also from the withdraw. If you take them plan on being on them the rest of your life.

I had horrible luck on effexor,terrible side effects and I guess side effects are pretty common with this drug. A similar drug which works better is cymbalta. Good luck

i was on it for over 5 years. it pretty much kept me in one mood. it was helpful because i could not get too far into a depression, but at the same time i was unable to feel any real emotions at all. it basically just numbed me. i just stopped taking it like 10 days ago, and it is hell to withdraw from. i would suggest trying something else.

Yes have been on it for about 6 years and have never been better. worked almost immediately and as long as you keep taking it as perscribed then all is well.

The side effects were from hell and getting off it was even worse. I would not recommend it to anyone.

my husband is on it and i am so glad. his moods have become so more stable. he smiles and laughs so much more than before. he was never depressed all the time, just occasionally and it took all of that away. i love it.
