It would be easy for the moment but later on everything comes back and haunt you. The same concept with laundry, when you don't do it, it piles up and then you still need to do them in the end. There's no way to avoid reality but in some cases things can be avoided by taking another route.

life wont be easier for you because you care for others by nature (you know that already)
what will make life easier is when you learn to set boundaries and limitations for both you and the people around you.
people don't just automatically burden us or lean and depend on us for everything. we make them dependable and burdensome on ourselves.
sometimes we confuse wanting to help others with having to help others.
i don't know if you are like me, but if you are then do this. take a look at any extreme situation you have acted on to help someone in your life. then ask yourself, would that person or anyone for that matter have reacted in the same way or as quickly or with such caring for me.
9 out of 10 you will say no.
we have to teach ourselves to back off. your friends always come to you because you are the one who have made yourself available 24/7.
if someone needs to talk. then talk and listen. if they don't ask for help or a solution, don't volunteer yourself for the task. let them do it.
learn how to judge what you are really needed for. don't assume that you 'have' to take care of everyone.
people see you as a doormat, because you have laid yourself out there for too long.
if you are asked for advise, or your friends come to you with something that you know you have already said a million times 'you should or shouldn't do x' you need to say to them and to yourself. i will only give you advise once but no more that 3 times. if they choose to not go with your advise, then say nothing more after that. no matter what happens after.
caring is part of you and you should not stop caring. you need to be responsible for how far you put yourself out there. remember that once you set the course, you can't blame others for going along.

It would be so much easier and you would live so stress free especially if you can do it, not too many people know how to let people's opinions roll off their shoulders, it is a good characteristic to have at least I think so

I think the answer is finding the balance between caring and taking care of yourself, and also, helping others. Even if you wanted to, I don't know if someone can go from caring to not caring at all..
