This should give you the basic prices for American coins. You need to read about how to use the guide, because condition of the coin and mint mark are part of the pricing along with the denomination and date of the coin.

There is actually no website that can help you. Unless you know how to grade your coins. PCGS website is their idea what their coins are worth in their holders. As I remember the coin world site, is for people that get their weekly coin paper like I do. The other sites are dealers trying to sell you their coins. You best bet if you don't know grading is a coin dealer. Now to do some homework get a copy of Coins or Coinage magazine. They have them at Wal-Mart and stores with a good size magazine section. The prices in the magazines are retails and you will get about 40% or less from a dealer. The key here is if the magazine says your coin is worth $5 in good and say $50 and above in extra fine you know you have a good coin. If it list for .05 to $1 you know the coins is not scarce and you won't get much, if anything for it. You will be prepared so no one can take advantage of you. Pawn shops and antique dealers are people to stay away from. Go and check out a couple of coin dealers. If there is a coin club in your area, I know they would be glad to assist you. I can usually help, but only on a couple of coins at a time, for anymore than that, it takes to much time to explain grades and the answer gets to large.
